Couric Magically Sheds 20 Pounds

Posted by Gary on August 31st, 2006

Original (left) and digital Nip/Tuck (right)
It’s an intriguing week for women in news making news. First Kyra Phillips, and now apparently someone at the CBS in-house magazine thought Katie Couric needed a little Celebrity Fit Clubbing. A photo, taken in May, had a little Photoshop magic applied to slim down Ms. Couric’s appearance. She’s taking […]

Maxian launching 30GB, TV-recording M800 PMP

Posted by Brian on August 31st, 2006

Korean manufacturer Maxian looks to be set to drop a new PMP on parts of the world other than this one with its newly-unveiled M800, though an exact launch date has yet to be announced. Like Maxian’s T600, this one boasts direct video recording from a TV or other source, with a 30GB hard drive […]

Bathroom Humor

Kyra Phillips, CNN reporter, apparently was absent from class the day they taught everyone to turn off their microphones as soon as they leave their desks.

Someone’s sister-in-law is going to be getting a big arrangement of flowers in the mail reeeeeeal soon.
And how about those “extended visits” *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

5 Things I Couldn’t Care Less About

Posted by Gary on August 29th, 2006

Here’s a list of things that don’t deserve any links because they make my ass tired:

Anything having to do with JonBenet Ramsey. I’m just waiting for the day soon when JonBenet is the hot new name in pre-school classes.
Apparently Jessica Simpson has lost her voice. Yea, we watch her for her ‘voice.’
Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes […]

Conan’s Emmy Opening

Posted by Gary on August 29th, 2006

Funny stuff… a definite must see. Conan O’Brien’s montage opening from last night’s Emmy’s.

Oh, and to all the uptight people bent out of shape because it contains a plane crash just hours after a real plane crash… um, you’re dumb.

Shameless Plugs

Posted by Gary on August 29th, 2006

Ok… so we got into this whole blog thing to have some fun, have an outlet for our creative ideas and, ultimately, maybe make a little money. And to do that, we need to drive traffic. You may or may not have noticed the Google ads over there on the right. If you see a […]

That’s one classy lady right there…

Betcha they don’t have stories like this in the New York Times…

Being a sports fan in Wisconsin

Posted by Gary on August 28th, 2006

Phenomenal column by Bill Simmons on ESPN.com’s Page 2 that captures the essence of being a sports fan in Wisconsin. He and a couple buddies take in a pair of Brewers games (vs. Houston) and a Packers game (vs. Atlanta) over 3 days and he’s written an extensive diary about the experience. Simmons deftly covers […]

We’re a bunch of drunks

Posted by Gary on August 25th, 2006

It’s official, my hometown is the drunkest in the nation! This comes, not from Maxim or Playboy, but from Forbes.com and their ranking of America’s Drunkest Cities. That’s right, Milwaukee, WI is the drunkest city in America.
A dubious distinction, sure. But perhaps there’s is a way to spin this. With many of the breweries having […]

Dude I Think Your Laptop is on Fire!

Posted by Brian on August 24th, 2006

As of today, Dell isn’t the only major victim of Sony’s exploding battery fiasco. (Well, if you don’t count the millions of consumers potentially in danger — and who does?) Apple has just recalled 1.8 million iBook and PowerBook laptop batteries, 1.1 million of those in the US and 700,000 abroad. They’ve had their fair […]

Oh the places you’ll go, class of 2010

Posted by Gary on August 23rd, 2006

It’s that time of year again… time for Beloit College to release their annual Mindset List. Since 1998 the list has looked at “the cultural touchstones that have shaped the lives of today’s first-year students.”
Some of my favorites about the incoming class of 2010 (mostly born in 1988)…
2. […]

Hey Ya Unplugged

Posted by Matt on August 23rd, 2006

For those of you who follow my own private blog, you know I wrote a post recently about Acoustic music and how bad a lot of it is. This is especially true when a band covers their own rocking song and then strips out everything that rocks and replaces it with a single guitar.
However, […]

What if Jon Stewart ran for president?

Posted by Gary on August 22nd, 2006

BoingBoing points to a trailer on YouTube for the film “Man of the Year” in which a faux-news anchor like Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert runs for President… and wins. This latest flick from Barry Levinson stars Robin Williams, and opens in October. I’m certainly intrigued.

Here’s the “campaign” website for Tom Dobbs.

HP reveals miracle weight loss cure

Posted by Gary on August 22nd, 2006

From the Consumerist: HP is marketing a new feature on their Photosmart R727 called “slimming” which, according to the manual, “compresses centered subjects for a slimmer look.” What that basically means is that you take a picture and make your chubby self look skinnier than you actually are. Yet another reason not to believe those […]
