Your own, personal (chocolate) Jesus

Posted by Gary on March 31st, 2007

Hell hath no fury like a Catholic scorned.  And whatever you do, don’t create a sculpture of their main dude in chocolate.  Catholic groups in New York City are up in arms over a life-size, anatomically-correct sculpture of a naked Jesus made out of chocolate.  I’m guessing the naked thing didn’t help.

Earlybird Special at Brothel

Posted by Gary on March 26th, 2007

Folks joke about the earlybird specials at restaurants and the geriatric crowd they attract. But there’s no arguing with the popularity of the deals among the frugal blue hair set.
Now, that concept is being applied to the sex industry. A German brothel is offering a 50% discount to seniors 66 and older for sex [...]

Bad Nicolas Cage Movies…

Posted by Joe on March 22nd, 2007

One of the funniest blog posts I’ve read in awhile… thejay.com’s: How To Tell If You’re Watching A Bad Nicolas Cage Movie.
You’ll find yourself reminiscing all the not-so-great times you’ve had watching Nicolas Cage movies.

There’s been a pile of whacked headlines in the local papers of late.  So let’s get right to them, shall we?

Apple stores raking in the cash

Posted by Gary on March 15th, 2007

An excellent CNNMoney.com article (by way of Neatorama) discusses why Apple is America’s best retailer, and #7 on Fortune’s list of America’s most admired companies. One key stat they point to is revenue per square foot:

Saks averages $362/sq. ft.
Best Buy - $930
Tiffany & Co. - $2,666
Apple - $4,032

Pretty darn interesting stuff.

Was Alcohol a Factor?

Posted by Gary on March 14th, 2007

Here is the first installment of what I plan to be a regular feature here on the Pants. Stories about the exploits of Mensa rejects, and whether or not alcohol is listed as a factor in their shenanigans, entitled “Was Alcohol a Factor?“.
This first story comes to us from Billings, MT. Seems one [...]

Parent sues over kid’s F grade

Posted by Gary on March 13th, 2007

Dateline Sissonville West Virginia. Straight A student gets F. World ends. Somebody better pay.
Yea, that’s right. It’s about time. It sure as hell isn’t the kid’s fault they turned the project in a day late. We certainly wouldn’t want to teach anything about responsibility, priorities or repercussions. Nope. [...]

Beer-a-pult = genius

Posted by Gary on March 9th, 2007

A Duke engineering grad by the name of John Cornwell has fashioned himself a beer launching refrigerator.  While the prototype is a bit crude in that it only holds 10 cans of beer and it’s quite loud (watch the video to see it in action), there is some serious potential here.
Is there a foam explosion [...]

Beat on the brat fry

Posted by Gary on March 6th, 2007

In their infinite wisdom, the city of De Pere, WI here in the great white north has proven that they have WAY too much time on their hands - specifically public health sanitarian Kris Murphy and assistant fire chief Jim Stupka.
Here’s the dealio… the Green Bay area has this wonderful tradition of holding charity brat [...]

Aspiring media whores apply here

Posted by Gary on March 2nd, 2007

It’s never to early to start your kids down the road of unrealistic expectations. Now, your 12-15 year-old can travel to beautiful Northfield, Massachusetts to take part in the official American Idol Camp. That’s right, this ain’t no knockoff camp.
For a measly $2900 your kid can learn singing, dancing, acting, set construction, instrumental [...]
