Games will never be the same thanks to NeuroSky!
“You must maintain attention at very high levels to succeed. This technology makes toys and video games more lifelike.”

No more will you be able to just breeze by level after level of koopa stomping action without having to concentrate REALLY HARD!  First in line of “toys” is a [...]

You’ve done online quizzes.  You’ve viewed clever flash animation thingies.  Combine them and you get “The Impossible Quiz” by Splapp-Me-Do.
It’s frustrating, cool, addicting, clever and will force you to waste hours of your life that you will never ever get back.  Welcome to my little corner of hell.

Antichrist to visit beautiful Guatemala

Posted by Gary on April 25th, 2007

Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda calls himself the Antichrist, has a tat of the number 666 on his arm, and claims he has over 2 million followers of his Florida based  “Growing in Grace” church.
He has plans to visit Guatemala soon to celebrate his 61st birthday, and the predominately Catholic population is not pleased.
My favorite quote:
“It [...]

So, your staying home from work today… now you can fulfill your civic duty by letting everyone on the internet know that you are sick as well. Who is Sick? is a website designed to use interactive maps to show where people are not feeling well. Their key includes markers for Runny Nose, [...]

Do you hear the calling?

Posted by Joe on April 24th, 2007

Is there something deep inside of you that has a need to correct the injustice of the world? Do you rush to the aid of the elderly in distress? Does the feeling of spandex against your skin give you that tingly feeling down your back?
If so, then you MIGHT have what it takes [...]

The facts as we know them:

Snoop Dogg agreed to appear at a UNICEF fundraiser along with the Pussycat Dolls.
He received $150,000 for this gig.
He nearly withdrew from the event if his demand request for an Xbox for he and his entourage to play backstage was not fulfilled.
The Xbox was provided.
Snoop then proceeded to be an [...]

Harkening back to my marketing & advertising roots for a couple tidbits…
From YesButNoButYes, comes mention of a thought-provoking Nike ad from Sunday’s New York Times commenting on the whole Don Imus dustup. Only problem is, ad agency Wieden & Kennedy let a typo slip into the copy. And if there’s anything that gets [...]

Fruity cocktails = healthy

Posted by Gary on April 20th, 2007

Not since ketchup counted as a vegetable has there been a story that rocked the foundations of the food world like the research that was reported yesterday.  A group of U.S. & Thai researchers reports that the alcohol in fruity drinks actually enhances the antioxident nutrients in colored fruits.
No word on whether Dr. Buffet will [...]

Year Zero

Posted by Joe on April 20th, 2007

The new Nine Inch Nails album, Year Zero, was released on Tuesday.

I was leary of this album when I heard the two sample tracks on Trent’s myspace site. They sounded less appealing and it led me to believe this whole album could be full of anti-Bush preachy crap. Luckily, I wasn’t fully correct.
Year Zero is [...]

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Darth Vader!

Posted by Gary on April 19th, 2007

After discussing the idea of building a Death Star Shaped hot air balloon, the idea came to Belgian Benoît Lambert to build a Darth Vader shaped balloon instead.
He was initially leery, knowing that permission would be needed from Lucasfilm in order to make the dream a reality.  After getting that permission, as long as the balloon [...]

Creative Commons Theater Scripts

For a couple years now our friend Kevin has been doing some amazing things with graph paper & royalty-free music (among other things) over at Incompetech.com. If you need a musical track or graph paper for virtually any application, he’s got it. And, if you have an application that needs both graph paper [...]

Movie myths about computer usage

Posted by Gary on April 16th, 2007

The Programming Blog has a great list of “Things Computers Can Do In Movies,” that have little basis in reality.  A couple of my personal faves are listed below:
4. All monitors display inch-high letters.
8. You can also infect a computer with a destructive virus by simply typing “UPLOAD VIRUS”. (See “Fortress”.)
13. A hacker is always [...]

All in the timing

Posted by Gary on April 13th, 2007

Those sleuthy folks over at the Consumerist have posted several links showing that Menu Foods (purveyors of contaminated pet food) CFO Mark Wiens sold half his stock shares three weeks before the recall was announced.
In what Wiens calls “a horrible coincidence,” it has also become known that Menu waited three weeks between discovering the contamination [...]
